8. What challenges did you face with your mate, and what did your loving husband do?
Watchtower Conductor: Sister '' I married at 16 because of raging hormones and couldn't wait to leave home'' Smith
Sister Smith...'' There were many times I had suspicions that my husband was a little too feminine. One day I came early from work and found my husband lounging on the couch wearing my panties and bra. We both wept! With family studies and many tearful prayers, Jehovah has made our marriage more meaningful. It says in PROVERBS 31: 10
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.''

News Reports are "Apostate Lies"
by truth_b_known inwith the most recent investigative news report show entitled "the witnesses" i noticed a number of posters whose family members are pimi refer to such shows as "apostate lies.
" even the governing body (possibly loesch) made such a statement (possibly on jw broadcasting).
i was thinking of how to reply to such a statement.. first, ask "who is the apostate?

I think I'm the only member who has ever been counseled on this ''unwritten rule.'' This photo shows your typical congregation meeting. Everyone carries a briefcase/field service bag. Not me! I never carried a briefcase because I felt like a nerd. For 30 years I carried only a Bible, songbook and only reading material that were needed for that meeting.
( Most members carried briefcases that felt like they carried bricks inside )
One day after the Ministry School, two Elders approached me and wanted to know why I carried all my reading material in my hands. ''WE NOTICE YOU DON'T YOU HAVE A BRIEFCASE?'', said one Elder. '' YOU NEED TO HAVE ONE IF YOU WANT TO REPRESENT THE ORGANIZATION'', said the other Elder.
I had my wife buy the cheapest briefcase as possible. To me they stepped in ''unwritten congregational rules.''

Why do Americans have to pay so much for College???
by RubaDub ini know there is a huge college/university lobby here in the us that lives off of students paying, in some cases, enormous amounts of money just to attend.. putting politics aside, if that is possible, (and i am not a bernie sanders guy by any means), but how can we pay for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, high school, and then throw a huge debt to someone who wants to continue learning?
can't the us (public and state universities) afford four more years for young people to get on a career path without having to, in some cases, take out a mortgage/loan more than the cost of some homes?
then, (and nothing against immigrants, i am married to one), but then the us has to "import" students from other countries to fill the needs that we should be supplying here.

So if having a degree was valuable, why not make everyone have one!
Exactly! Some fields required a degree, so Human Resources decided that they wanted to hire only employees with degrees.
of course as often happens, the goals change - now the target is for everyone to have a degree, any degree, not one that necessarily means something like they did before.
Exactly true! My daughter is in Human Resources and tells me that she is told to shred applicants resumes with no college degrees.
So a whole industry springs up to pump and resumes that show up degrees on people. Some look at the value of the specific degrees themselves and the potential future employment that they may help with, others just say "yay, degree in painting my nails!" or whatever useless crap it is.
Yes! Colleges become factories. Their only business is pumping out degrees. The more degrees you pump out, the more money the college makes. The whole school wins. Raises for all staff.
Lots of debt. Lots of "educators" (ha) getting well paid because of the debt that feeds it, but no real improvement in education - if anything people are dumber and less informed than ever before.
Colleges do teach, but what you get out of it or how competent you will be, does not matter to them. Get them in class and pump them out for new students tomorrow! You're in Debt? Too bad!
Degrees are often no measure of competence depending on the field, they may even become a measure of stupidity - how can they not? You spent how much on that? Sorry, we're not hiring stupid.
Yes! A degree is a just a piece of paper that shows you passed required classes. Colleges don't measure students on how competent they will be in their fields. Unless you came out as a Lawyer, Doctor, Engineer or some specialized field, you will be no more competent in your field as someone else. It just shows that you completed studies!

competent individuals seek a higher education in an attempt to make their labor more valuable for the previously mentioned employers seeking competent educated employees.
Let me see if I get this right:
a competent individual + higher education = employers seeking competent, educated employees
a competent individual = employers seeking only competent employees

MeanMrMustard:
I agree that colleges have no incentive to lower tuition & fees if the Federal government increases the supply of funds to attend their schools. It comes down to supply & demand.
Employers do demand competent, educated employees. Please understand competence and education are almost mutually exclusive.
Would you say that the following careers ( that do not require a college degree) are employees who would be considered not competent?
Would someone with a college degree be more competent in these fields because they have a piece of paper?
National Average Salary: $67,464 per year
Requirements: You must have completed your high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 23 years old, obtain a commercial pilot license, obtain a first-class medical certificate and pass flight airline-specific exams.

National Average Salary: $13.56 per hour
Requirements: You must have completed your high school diploma or equivalent, EMT basic training and pass a national or state certification exam. Some employers may require advanced training.

Kids are taught that the only path to success is a college education, and regrettably, college is really not for all people. The flood of money creates a bubble, costs rise, and quality falls as all the <insert bull shit word>-studies programs are created.
Employers are at fault for the insane college costs. They drive most high school kids to go to college to get a degree, even if they are meant for a manual or vocational training. Colleges increase costs because there is a high demand for a college education. A piece of paper tells every employer what your wage will be and where you fit in the company. Unless you come out of college with a specialized field, you will compete with more job seekers than you thought.
I sent my 3 children to college. My total cost was over $200,000. I pay most of the loans by a home equity loan. The loan is a burden on my back. Yes, my 3 children all work full time jobs but for what they make per year, someone who is in the trades or has their own business makes more.

Jesus said ''help and feed the poor,'' not build large headquarters
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini was watching a news report last night on the homeless people in chicago, who were living outdoors in extreme cold and snow.
the homeless were seen living under bridges and street tunnels.. a missionary church called ''the night ministry'' was driving around helping the homeless with water, food , blankets and free rides to a local hospital if they were in need of medical care.
talk about following the words of jesus!.

Is It Always Wise to Give to Charity?
Awake November 1973 page 26
A Balanced View
No question about it, as Jesus said, “You always have the poor with you.” (Matt. 26:11) And he also said, there is happiness in giving, in being unselfish, in being helpful. But to be gullible is to reward the greedy ones or those too lazy to work. Since there are deserving persons and deserving causes, one should practice discrimination. So the time-worn saying, “Let the buyer beware,” might well be rephrased, “Let the giver beware.”
And, of course, those who are Christian ministers are in position to give something far better than silver and gold. And what is that? The truth of God’s Word, which brings comfort, hope, peace of mind and which can even result in life eternal. Having received free, they also want to give free. (Matt. 10:8; compare Acts 3:1-8.) And, in fact, it is in regard to this kind of giving, of spiritual things, that the apostle Paul quoted Jesus’ words about the greater happiness that comes from giving.—Acts 20:35.So, there you have it! The Watchtower Society advises fellow members not to give money to charities because: ''You will always have the poor'', ''You will reward the greedy and those too lazy to work'' and leaving Watchtower Bibles and literature is far better than silver and gold.
Watchtower Society ..What about opening up soup kitchens/ warming centers for the homeless? What about providing monies for clothing, school supplies and medical centers for the unfortunate?
I know the answer to those questions! Not once in the 40+ years I was a Jehovah's Witnesses did I see any kind of mention to donate to any charities. It was only after I left the Watchtower Society did I start giving money, donating clothes/ furniture and donating my auto for veterans who needed help with their everyday expenses.
